As many of us approach yet another week at home, the “forced staycation” that is social distancing and self-isolation has left many of us mourning our overgrown roots, out-of-control eyebrows, and the sad attempt at doing an at-home manicure. Though some of us may be struggling in the self-care department, most of us are trying to cope with the fact that our everyday lives have come to a screaming halt. When it’s been weeks of staying inside, you are bound to lose motivation, track of time, and all willingness to (gasp) binge-watch Netflix. So, what can we do to follow the *stay-at-home* rules while still finding the determination to do more with your extra time? Check down below to see how you’re spending your free time according to your Zodiac sign and what else you can do to make staying inside a little more bearable.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Staying at home probably doesn’t come naturally to you. Being the first of the Zodiac, it is no surprise that Aries likes to be number one. Bold, courageous, and belonging to the element of fire (along with Sagittarius and Leo) Aries likes a little competition or should we say…a lot. You charge through life with a certain joie de vivre and lead with passion and independence. Make the most out of your free time and channel your energy into at-home workouts – nothing motivates you more than starting a challenge with friends. So, throw on your go-to workout clothes and tie up your hair, we dare you.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Well-grounded and practical, you are the most relaxed zodiac sign of them all and the most happiest when surrounded by the best of the best. Ruled by Venus, the planet of love, you possess her traits of beauty, artistry, and hedonism. In this age of self-isolation, I’m sure you are finding it incredibly eye-twitching not being able to order that perfect glass of wine at your favourite restaurant or taking your Gucci wallet for a walk up to the shops. But, look on the bright side, you can drink a glass of vino, throw in a hair mask, and voilà! You will be relaxing into your famous hole of online shopping all from the comfort of your silk sheets.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
You’re double the fun, literally. As the sign of the twins, you’re always moving at warp speed thanks to your partner in crime/ruler, Mercury, the planet of communication and technology. Without fail, you are always trying to learn something new and since you’re stuck at home (probably working), you are most likely using this time for emails, on-the-go projects, and key passions. But, there’s a time and place for work and free time, so try and push for work-life balance and use your busy hands to journal. Since you are constantly flipping between moods and interests jot down your thoughts and ideas to keep your mind in check.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Sensitive Cancer, you’re so loyal, intuitive, and nurturing. With your ever-changing moods—due to the many phases of the Moon—you always have a ready shoulder to cry on or probably need one. Quick to get domestic, you try to show your love for your friends and family through things like home-baked cookies and bath bombs. Along with even more free time now, you are probably scratching your head trying to figure out what else you can do for them. With your loved ones as your Guinea Pigs (those in isolation with you) and the leftover coconut oil from those cookies, use your naturally caring mind to shower them with home-made scrubs, and masks.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
You are just like your ruler. The Sun being the center of the solar system and you unfailingly being the center of attention, you thrive in the spotlight. And not being able to dress up to have somewhere fabulous to go is making it that much harder to take advantage of your free time. That being said, why don’t you commit even more to your social media presence? It will give you a reason to get up, wash your hair, put hair extensions in, do your makeup, and throw on a cute outfit where you can show the world the beauty that is you, Leo.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Detail-oriented Virgo just like Mercury. You’re an amazing listener and as a result of that, you give the best advice. You analyze everything…in fact, you can drive yourself crazy because you see every flaw, over critique, and never stop thinking. You are probably dissecting this blog post right now with three different projects on the go. So in turn, take your busy mind and turn it off for an hour. Make it your priority to use this spare time to relax your mind, diffuse some essential oils, turn on a waterfall playlist, and say “om.”
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
You’re gentle, kind, and share the grace and love of Venus. You adore being surrounded by beauty, art, and culture and you know how to charm your way into just about anything. Perhaps that explains your desire to experience all things beauty through aesthetics and socializing. You are a social butterfly and are probably having trouble adjusting to these current situations. You always get caught up in the moment and forget to save time for yourself. So, indulge in this self-care challenge, you’ll be surprised with what you’re missing.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Pluto is your ruler and with that being said, you are both little powerhouses with a bit of mystery. You don’t mind being alone, hence your ability to get sucked into the black hole of youtube conspiracies and Instagram memes. With self-isolation coming so naturally to you, channel that longing for mystery and depth with a good book or you could just binge-watch the entire season of Tiger King…talk about depth.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Full of energy and confidence, Sagittarius is the free spirit among all free spirits. Often reflecting a larger-than-life aura by the virtue of your ruler, Jupiter, you radiant optimism, ambition, and happiness. You’re at your best when you are in wide-open spaces with excitement and adventure coming your way and it devastates you being stuck inside. You have probably just finished scrolling through all the discounted plane tickets wondering why can’t these prices stay this low.
Instead of torturing yourself with potential destinations you want to travel to, work on mastering a new language. Then all that’s left for your next voyage is completing your list of travel essentials.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Why so serious, Capricorn? Because…as ruled by Saturn, the planet of tough lessons and wisdom, you often see life as an uphill battle. This is very fitting considering you take life one cautious step at a time on account of the incredible, brave mountain goat who symbolizes you. While structure and productivity drives your ambition, the lack of direction you feel during this self-quarantine has your anxiety level topping the end of You season 2. So, if you happen to not be working, spend your free time doing something that is going to inspire new beginnings.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Just like your celestial ruler, Uranus, you’ve been known to do things your own way. Aka, spinning on your side from time to time. Some call you energetic and eccentric while others truly admire your authentic style and ability to get along with just about anyone. You also find yourself trying to solve all the world’s problems and are probably attempting to come up with a vaccine as we speak. But, you run the risk of getting overwhelmed and giving up. So, collaborating is key. Join a Zoom chat with the friends to bounce world-saving ideas off of or just drink wine and have a chat.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
The utmost creative sign of them all. Pisces is the dreamer and healer of the horoscope family who is symbolized by two fish swimming in the opposite direction from each other. Being an extremely empathic water sign, a part of you likes to “swim away” from reality, where the other part is so intuitive it will dive deep down into the thick of things. Your imagination is the perfect getaway when you want to escape reality and although you feel helpless in these unique times, your creativity is what masks the act of self-isolation. And since you are probably already at home dancing and being creative, just keep doing what you’re doing.
